Alan — Founder & Editor
Alan is a UX designer and developer with more than a decade in the field — which means more than a decade of long days at a screen, doing exactly the kind of sustained, detail-heavy work this site is about. He started Ergonomics for Creatives after noticing that the ergonomics literature is written for offices, and creative work is not office work: different tools, different postures, different failure modes, and an attention budget that generic advice never mentions.
As editor, he chooses the topics, reads the primary research (Cornell, OSHA, NIOSH, and the peer-reviewed literature behind every article), tests what can be tested at his own desk, and writes and edits everything published here. The standing rule he holds every piece to: no willpower-based fixes, no gear worship, sources at the bottom.
Based in Memphis, Tennessee, and usually in Figma or Adobe CS, at a desk that has been measured more times than it would like.
Contributors
The creatives who walk us through their real setups — constraints, compromises, and all — in the Workspaces series. Each contributor is added here as their feature publishes.
First features are in production. This list is about to get longer.
